Jefferson Smythe wrote a list of all of the things he had punched.
THINGS I HAVE PUNCHED
(A List By Jefferson Smythe):
- Pickup Truck
- Rock
- Street Sign
- Podium
- Caramel Apple
- Scott’s Kitchen Appliance (chopper?)
- Desk Lamp
- Poster of the “Hang in there!” Kitten
- Toilet
- Photo Album
Jefferson scanned is list. He had been so sure he punched at least a thousand things, but he had only punched ten.
Jefferson set down his list, rolled up his sleeves, and cracked his knuckles. He had a lot of punching left to do.

I’ll bet that list of 10 was tough to narrow down.
Did you really mean to include podium, or were you thinking lectern?

Love the contrast of the run-of-the-mill name and the uniqueness of the character. The items themselves are varied and interesting - a caramel apple, really? - and conjure vivid and interesting imagery. It's a thoughtful piece, but also a 'thinking' piece (e.g. the reader has thoughts of 'what would I punch?', 'why is he punching things in the first place?', and imagining what happens after the open ending).
