Neat letter! It is striking the conservatism was a strike against her AFTER the mysterious boyfriend - would these fair well from a reversing? Does the conservatism take the piece away from the universal and put it in the specific, and if so, does it work better? I'm on the fence, there.
You can likely take out the word "that" and still get the meaning across. Good work here.
